Write Meaningful Sword Fight Scenes

In March, we will be treated to a talk and demonstration by Fran Terminiello, author and expert on various forms of sword fighting. She will be able to give a short history of sword fighting, both in this country and Europe, and discuss and demonstrate the different varieties of fighting with different types of swords. She is willing to discuss different tactics and also how often fights went wrong - when duellists sliced lumps out of their own feet or ears, for instance. Or what happens when your protagonist is up against a drunker swordfighter...

So if you intend to write a fight using anything sharp and pointy, come along and listen to someone who not only teaches different types of swordplay, but has also studied manuscripts written at the time.
