July 2013

Sue Wright - has sold one short story to Take a Break’s Fiction Feast and two stories to The Weekly News, and her short story collection ‘Six Stupid Sheep and Other Yarns’ is now published by Alfie Dog Fiction as a paperback.

Alison Hawes - commissioned to write two non-fiction books for 7 year olds for OUP Education; commissioned to write two non-fiction books for teenagers with reading difficulties for Badger Learning; 3 previously published fiction and 3 non-fiction titles for Primary schools to be published in new ebook versions by Pearson for the Caribbean literacy market; Two books for six year olds; “Living in a Castle” and “Exploring London”, published by Pearson.

Nicki Sheeran – Has written a chapter for the West Sussex Heritage Booklet ‘A Very Poor Attendance Day’. Ian Black – Directed 2 plays – `Beginners’ Guide to Murder` for Rustington Players - June 13 and `Fairway to Heaven’ for Lancing Repertory Players – July 13.

Terence Brand - his 150,000 word novel, 'The Sound of Pirates' will be published on the Alfiedog website in mid July.'

Tracy Fells - Flash story ‘Tantric Twister’ published on CafeLit and in Flash Flood Journal (for National-Flash-Fiction-Day 22 June); Highly Commended in The Yellow Room Spring short story competition.

Pam Weaver - her third saga Pack Up Your Troubles comes out on June 20th.

Tracy Fells - Shortlisted in Writers’ Forum monthly competition; Longlisted with one act play for Kenneth Branagh Drama Award and short story ‘Gretel and the Chocolate Wolf’ published in Rattle Tales Anthology (out 23 May).

Della Griffiths - has had a small editorial/report about a charity event "Worthing’s Secret Artists" accepted in the Worthing Daily, a new on-line news feed about Worthing – her first.

Julie Coffin - 'WEB OF FEAR' published in large print hardback for Chivers by AudioGo Ltd.

John Eddleston – Has his play ‘Stage Struck’ being performed at The Barn – 22 to 25 May and he has been commissioned by Pen and Sword to write three books on the Great War of 1914 to 1918, covering Southampton, Winchester and Chichester.

Tracy Fells - Runner-up Reader’s Digest 100-word-story competition (published in MAY issue), Flash story ‘Top Deck Tilly’ published on Flash Flood Journal (associated with National-Flash-Fiction-Day) and Short story ‘Twinkle, twinkle’ published in Alfie Dog’s Essence of Humour collection (published 15 Apr).

Wendy Greene – has had a collection of poems called 'You Can't Wrap Your Fish In The Internet' published.

Tracy Fells - Invited to read a short story at Rattle Tales evening in Hove. - Feature ‘Prosetry in motion’ published in Writing Magazine (April issue) - Longlisted in Microfiction and Essay categories for The New Writer 2012 Prose Prize.

Sue Wright – has sold two stories to Take a Break’s Fiction Feast and one story to My Weekly.

Pam Weaver - Short story in Woman's Weekly fiction Feast (March) & story sold to My Weekly. Bath Times & Nursery Rhymes number 9 in Sunday Times best sellers list.

John Eddleston - will be making an appearance on Murder Casebook with Fred Dineage in November, talking about the case of James Hanratty.

Ian Black – Last month he directed a play at the New Venture Theatre in Brighton. – he has just started as a local theatre reviewer for www.whatsonstage.com

Dan Crowley - Two of his short stories got a 'commended' by the editor of Writers Forum, one called 'Furs' and the other called 'Paulo and Nancy.'

Tracy Fells - Shortlisted in Flash 500 with Alice in Saunaland’ & Very short story (75 words) published on Paragraph Planet.

Susan Wright – has sold a short story to Yours magazine and four short stories to The Weekly News.

 

February 2013

Susan Wright - has had a collection of short stories published as an e-book by Alfie Dog. The collection of 13 short stories, entitled ‘Six Stupid Sheep and other Yarns’ was launched on 21st January.

Tracy Fells - Short story ‘The Best-Laid Plans’ published in People’s Friend (this story originally came 3rd in WSW’s short story competition judged by Pam Weaver).

Dan Crowley - his poem Palestrina should be in the next edition of Writers' Forum.

Margaret Mounsdon - her latest novella ‘Night Music’ has been accepted by My Weekly Story Collection.

Richard Buxton – has won the Cazart short story competition for January with a story called 'Slow Gin Skipping'.  http://www.cazart.co.uk/

Bob Wragg - commissioned by the London Publishers Malcolm O'Mara Books to write my autobiography, 'Bobby on the Beat', telling of my experiences in the Metropolitan Police in the East End of London in the 1960s. The publication date is provisionally Sept 2013.

Tracy Fells - Filler published in Dec issue Writers' Forum (winning free year's subscription), Shortlisted in Writers' Forum monthly short story competition with 'The Resurrection of Amelia Finn', Shortlisted in Hysteria Short Story Competition with ‘Midsummer’s Eve’.

Sue Iles-Jonas – Has been asked to write a regular column for ‘Brighton and Hove Actually’ magazine on different aspects of hypnotherapy, with seasonal/issue aspect. And has also been asked to be a guest writer giving practical hypnotherapy help for drink related problems for Soberistas - a website which helps people regain control of their lives and drink.

Leonie Mansell - Two very successful gigs - Airs and Disgraces hat - 6th October at St. Mary de Haura, in Shoreham as part of the Shoreham Wordfest arts festival. 15th October as one of the acts in an Acoustic Showcase concert in the Capitol Theatre in Horsham. 400 people in the audience, and a great reception for our performance.

Margaret Mounsdon - featured in the Where I Write page Writers' Forum #133 and a Short story entitled Talking Feet accepted by My Weekly.

Tracy Fells - Recorded a short story for The Voice of Progress talking newspaper to celebrate National Short Story Week (12-18 Nov) - Winner of Choc-Lit Summer Short Story Competition with ‘Phoenix and Marilyn’, now published on their website.

Julie Coffin - novella WEB OF FEAR accepted for large print and ebook publication by AudioGo

Sue Ajax-Lewis - a minor triumph - I have had a short story accepted by Norah McGrath for Fiction Feast.

Wendy Tomlins - had a letter published in The Lady the 16th November issue.

Rose Bray - A recipe with a small humorous anecdote in the Guardian's family section. She was thrilled because they get hundreds each week!

Alison Hawes - Out Now: The Old Lift , published by Badger Learning and twenty five books in My First Phonics series published by Pearson. Commissioned to write two stories set in WW1 for 9-11 year olds with reading difficulties

Sue Wright - I’ve had a letter published in Writers’ Forum magazine (issue 133), which means I’ll receive a lovely Moleskine notebook.

Sue Ajax Lewis - Just a small piece in readers' Digest - but cheering nonetheless!

Wendy Greene - Nothing for ages then two come along at once - a letter in Radio Times and a poem in Choice magazine.

Tracy Fells - Story 'Keep calm and carry on' sold to The People's Friend magazine. Short story 'Fish of the Sea' published in The Yellow Room Magazine Autumn issue. Bob Wragg - My second book is about to be published (The Secret War Diary Of A Worthing Soldier) and I have a Book Signing at Waterstones, Worthing on Saturday 20th October 11am to 1pm.

Terry Brand - eight stories accepted by the Alfie Dog website.

Alison Hawes - commissioned to write two stories set in the Middle Ages for young teenagers with reading difficulties and invited to send in ideas for two more stories for the same series.

Susan Wright - Two more stories accepted by www.alfiedog.com and has sold two short stories – both to Australian magazines. A story called ‘Aliens’ sold to the weekly ‘that’s life’ magazine, and a story called ‘Timeslip’ sold to ‘that’s life Fast Fiction’ for their summer 2013 edition.

Daniel Crowley - A story titled 'Karate' will appear soon in an edition of 'Scribble' magazine published by Park Publications.

Margaret Mounsdon – Has sold the Large Print rights to Love Triumphant and People's Friend have accepted her first two part novella entitled Love Among The Arts, due out 24 January and 7 February 2012
