Three Different Strands of Writing with Jude Lennon

In this meeting Jude is going to talk about three of the many strands to her writing.

Collaboration - working with autistic teenager Will Hawkes to create two books with an autistic main character. This collaboration opened many doors for Will.

Writing for a Cause - the beautiful beach at Formby (near Liverpool) was the inspiration for Jude's latest picture book 'That's Our Home!' The litter and rubbish that had been left there prompted her to pick up her pen and write a book with a message.

Becoming a multi-genre author - After writing picture books and chapter books for children, find out what prompted her to explore writing for the adult market with her collection of Short Stories 'A Slice of Lennon'

About Jude

"I used to be a teacher who loved writing, now I'm an author who loves storytelling."

Jude Lennon is a former Early Years teacher who now works as a Storyteller under the name Little Lamb Tales. She is also a children’s author and more recently an author of short stories for adults. Jude is the current Disney Winnie the Pooh Laureate for the North West of England. As an official Patron of Reading, Jude works with schools to spread the message about reading and writing for pleasure.

Review of the meeting

WSW members were treated to an interesting and engaging talk, via Zoom, from Jude Lennon.

Jude was formerly a primary school teacher, and made up many stories (which colleagues thought she should publish) for her pupils. She entered one for a competition, was asked to read it over the phone to a US number, and won the post of Disney Winnie the Pooh children’s laureate. She contacted a local publishing house that specialised in Beatles literature, they agreed to publish her work on the strength of her surname. Now she spends much of her time back in schools talking about her books.
